Hrm. Nothing too much going on really. My cousin Maurice got married. Work is fine, we had a bunch of bugs come in at the last minute for our next release, which I think our team was able to fix, but I just hope they get QA’ed and verified as well. I must say that my manager does an outstanding job of keeping on top of a lot of different things and people and just being very organized in general.

I decided this week that I’m going to start eating healthy again. It feels like such a burden that I hate doing it, oh well.

I’m spending a lot of time reading hardware sites lately. Just out of boredom.

After a drought of more than 30 years, there were two federal executions in one week. Timothy McVeigh being the more notorious one. I wish I had some witty comment about our justice system, but I don’t. I’m not really that opposed to the death penalty anyways. It’s so hard to get someone executed, it’s usually worth it.

Oh and the Mariners continue their amazing pace, with a 53-17 record, 19 games ahead of their nearest AL West rival. Barry Bonds is also having an amazing home run year, hitting a record 38 with a couple weeks before the All Star break. With this pace, he’ll easily break Mark McGwire’s Home run record set just 3 years ago.

I’ve just been sold on a new universal instant messaging client, called Trillian, very pretty with integration of AIM, Y! IM, MSN Messenger, IRC, and ICQ. Only works on Windoze, but such is life. I like it, though I can’t seem to remember my MSN Messenger username/password. It’s kinda scary that I have all these IM services, though I don’t use ICQ or MSN Messenger hardly at all.

You really have to be amused by anyone who attempts to build a nuclear reactor in their backyard and is successful to the point where the house becomes a Superfund cleanup site. I’m trying to decide on how to set up a home network for my parents. I’m thinking of going with wireless ethernet, but maybe the Phonewire stuff is good as well. It’s hard to decide, there’s also the question of whether I should get USB adapters or PCI. USB is nice because it is external, but it’s about 3x expensive for the wireless ethernet stuff. Ah well.

We had our Iron Chef party last night. Tracy and I and Alex and Mary tied for first. The theme ingredients were cheese, pineapple, flank steak, and spinach. Everyone knew the ingredients but didn’t know which one they’d get. It turned out pretty well. There was a lot of food. Some things worked better than others. Tracy made some really good cheese and chicken enchiladas and really good garlic mashed potatoes with cheddar on top. The polenta, beef, and cheese appetizer didn’t work so well. Ah well, that’s life. We also watched the Iron Chef rematch, where Bobby Flay beat Iron Chef Morimoto.
