Ugh. So my web site has been offline for a few weeks because of the Code Red virus. Not that I was infected, but because other people were. A lot of people on the @home network were infected with Code Red, and because it’s a worm that infects unprotected IIS servers it hit a lot of people. So @home’s solution was to shut down inbound access to web servers. So anyone running a web server on @home like me got screwed. Even though I wasn’t infected. It is within their rights to do so, but it still pisses me off.
Not much other news going around the net today. A rash of dot coms have finally failed thank god. So many of them just couldn’t support themselves except with hype.
Funny thing when i went home. My mom got a 6 foot plastic marlin and hung it very prominently in our foyer. It’s the ugliest thing anyone
has ever seen, yet she loves it. Ah well, each to his own.
Oh also when I was home we got to see a Mariner’s game from a luxury skybox at Safeco field. That was sweet. To make it all the better, the Mariners won it with a dramatic bottom of the 9th comeback win. And finally when I was home, my cousin Wayne got married. I got to meet his wife Carol for the first time, and his brother Eddie was apparently funny because his Taiwanese was so bad and he tried to translate himself. And I set my dad up with a wireless network and his cable modem.
