I saw this article on Firefox tweaks and it immediately and noticeably improved my browser performance, so try them out if you use Firefox. The changes do put a bit more load on the web servers that you use, but these days I doubt it would cause any noticeable change in web traffic even if every Firefox user made the changes.

Tivo has a new feature which allows you to program your Tivo over the net. I don't actually need to program my Tivo that often because the Season Pass feature is great and we don't change it around that much, but I can see this coming in handy.

One highlight I forgot to mention about our trip to Palm Springs was the Living Desert Zoo. It's pretty much just a zoo, but it has some cool exhibits and animals. We listened to a brief talk about hawks and other birds of prey that was particularly interesting. Some interesting facts, the largest raptor(birds which kill things with their claws include owls, hawks, falcons, and eagles) is the eagle and it has a 6+ foot wingspan but only weighs 8-12 lbs. They can only carry 1/2 half their weight, so while it might be able to kill larger things with its extremely powerful claws, it's not likely to have much use for it. Also the zoo had a variety of imported desert animals from Africa. I hadn't been to a zoo in forever, and it was good to remember why I'm an environmentalist(though I confess I'm not as active as I should be). I think everyone should be concerned about the extinction of any species, if for no other reason than we have much to learn about the biological processes that we can apply for our own benefit.
