The world in HD
I think we could achieve world peace if everyone in the world had a High Definition TV. Everyone would just sit around and stare at their HDTV. The picture is really great. Some of the content of course isn't designed for it. We have a TV that can only be described as ridiculously large for our house(which is not that large). We went with an LCD projection screen from Sony and I'm really pleased with it.
I've had to call
DirecTV several times within the last month and they are really doing a pretty solid job of customer service. I have connected to a human very quickly every time, they haven't put me on hold for an excessively long time, and they have solved every problem of mine on the first call.
Getting a new fully HDTV with lots of HD programs is pretty complex. First there's many different hd and standard definition technologies. Then there are different broadcast standards and signal receiving capabilities from antennas, to satellite to cable. Plus there's an ugly layer of FCC regulatory complexities limiting re-broadcasting and local market competition which define what signals you can get from who. DirecTV makes everything as simple as humanly possible(which is still not very simple) to get their customers set up with HD.
